Overseas Projects Manager (ITD-CRD-06)

Category: Professional Support | Department: Department of Clinical Research | Closing Date: 07 Apr 2016 | We are seeking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to be responsible for the management and coordination of the financial, logistical and administrative elements of a number of projects. The post holder will be an integral part of the management team supporting the implementation of several projects. The projects include: 1) EBOVAC: a large scale Phase III trial to assess the safety and efficacy of a novel prime boost prophylactic vaccine regimen against Ebola Virus Disease. The vaccine has been developed by Crucell Holland B.V., part of the Janssen Pharmaceutical companies and the trial is funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) of the EC.   2) A randomised dose reduction trial of different human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines in healthy Tanzanian girls to determine if one or two doses have the same immune profiles as 3 doses.   3) A project that is in its final 6 months to synthesize lessons learned from completed HPV vaccine demonstration projects in low and middle income countries to generate recommendations on how HPV vaccine can be successfully delivered.   The post-holder will act as a central point of contact for all financial and administrative aspects of the projects, maintaining liaison with partner institutions overseas and other consortium members. The post may require periods of travel to UK, Europe and East Africa to liaise with and support the LSHTM project management team and clinical trial partners and to attend meetings with the sponsors as necessary.    Key responsibilities include:   • setting up in country-level budgets and assist the team in LSHTM with the establishment of sub-contracts between the School and partner organisations. • assisting the Senior Project Manager in the management of the overall budget, monitoring local project budgets and resources,  • establishing and managing sub-contractor reporting processes and other administrative requirements,  • preparing financial reports and budget forecasts, • servicing  project committees • organising and facilitating meetings  • assisting with communications  • drafting written materials such as reports and documentation relating to the financial or administrative aspects of the projects • assisting in preparing progress and other reports for the trial sponsors and funders • assisting with the coordination of the projects across the sites, in particular with logistic issues related to project implementation • assisting with the future planning and strategic trajectory of projects • developing and maintaining information management systems for appropriate administration of projects • assisting with personnel management, including recruitment and contract extensions.   The post is full-time, based in London and available immediately until 30 November 2017.
