Business Role
Thomson Reuters Special Services (TRSS) Business Unit is looking to hire a highly motivated and energetic individual to perform a solid foundational role on the TRSS business team. There will be two main areas of focus in this position:
1) Supporting forecasting, planning, reporting and accounting activities, including variance analyses and one-off business modeling
2) Support sales and business development activities through modeling of custom solutions, managing pricing and product profitability activities and supporting contract and proposal function
The position will be a key participant in providing value-added analysis and reporting to the management team. The opportunity will provide exposure at the highest levels of the TRSS management team and require partnering with the management team to drive the business agenda forward.
Specific responsibilities expected of the position:
Contract Support:
- Support business development initiatives by authoring of customer proposals and supporting contract administration in the areas of financial and business information.
- Be a principal owner of the contracting process- helping to manage the contracts activities and ensure adherence to TRSS contracting and proposal policies and procedures
Pricing:
- Work with TRSS management to develop innovative product offerings and custom solutions that support our current and future customer base
- Engage the entire business unit to employ strategies to more efficiently execute go-to-market and sales activities
- Develop and maintain profitability models for TRSS product offerings and provide pricing oversight to the sales team
Finance:
- Support the forecasting, planning, and reporting processes. This will require engagement with verticals within TRSS
- Provide analysis/evaluation of organization wide financial performance including drivers of variance to budgets
- Assist in the preparation of business plans/business case analysis for new projects or initiatives, working closely with TRSS managers to agree planning assumptions, scope, and objectives
- Provide input to ad hoc projects within TRSS as required
- Communicate high-level information to senior Management Team as well as communicate complex ideas clearly.
- Learn new concepts quickly and complete multiple and diverse assignments with the highest quality.
- Maintain and reconcile General Ledger accounts on a recurring basis; including posting monthly journal entries, providing variance analysis, and investigating and determining potential impacts of different activities on financial statements
- Perform month-end close responsibilities with a complete understanding of the close process
- Collect and consolidate data, and prepare financial statements that summarize TRSS operating results and financial position
- Assume a leadership role in the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of scalable financial systems to ensure organizational consistency and support the growth of the business
- Provide thought leadership.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and executive presence
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Energetic, articulate, mature, and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
- Four to seven+ years progressive finance or accounting experience including interaction with corporate and business unit management
- Integrated financial systems experience preferred
-Technical knowledge of financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting
- Ability to adapt to change and identify opportunities for improving current processes
- Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills with a competence in presenting in a professional and influential manner
- Capacity to lead multiple projects with competing demands for time and resources and successfully meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Highly responsive and committed to results with a strong customer orientation
- Locate in McLean, Virginia office
- Be able to obtain a United States Top Secret security clearance
