E-Learning Technical Officer (IT40)

Category: Professional Support | Department: IT Services | Closing Date: 25 Oct 2015 | London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is seeking to appoint an e-Learning Technical Officer to provide support to our highly successful London-based and distance learning programmes. The role holder will be responsible for development of the School VLE (Moodle), technical maintenance in conjunction with ULCC and support for associated learning and teaching technologies, including online collaboration platforms and assessment and evaluation tools. They will also provide assistance with teaching and learning administration systems and act as technical lead in the scoping and implementation of new e-learning technologies, initiatives and processes. The post-holder will be required to work proactively with technical systems leads within IT Services and with key stakeholders in the Division of Education and across the wider School, in order to provide both user and systems support for existing platforms and technical expertise in the development of future e-learning delivery. The role holder will provide customer service support and will act as first point of contact for technical enquiries and requests related to learning technologies and digital systems, providing instruction, documentation and training in this area as required. We are seeking someone with sound technical knowledge of online learning technologies and an excellent track record of deploying and providing support for e-learning platforms and tools in an educational environment e.g. Blackboard Collaborate, SCORM packages, Turnitin. You will hold a relevant degree or professional qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience and will also hold a qualification in e-learning or other discipline of direct relevance to the role. Excellent communication and customer care skills and experience of acting within a customer service/support role within a university and/or public sector environment are essential. The post is based within the Digital Services team in IT Services. This is a dynamic team which provides both technical and user support for a range of online services and digital platforms including web services, multimedia and IT training. The post-holder will be required to work collaboratively and flexibly within the team.
