Assistant Bank Controller

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES : Assist the Controller with managing the operations of the accounting department. Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and analysis for the DSM Bank, BTC Capital and BTC Financial Holding Company. Manages the completion of the annual audits, budgets, and financial forecasts; oversee accurate & timely completion of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Bankers Trust DSM, as well as BTC Capital, SD, and BTC Financial Holding Company. Analyze for financial opportunities & risk mitigation; prepare monthly and YTD financials for bank management and Board of Directors. Prepare detailed explanations for deviations of fees & operating expenses to budget; prepare monthly financial binder; assist with quarterly call report; oversee and prepare the annual consolidated audit, Common Trust Fund audits, and 401k audit; primary contact for outside auditors; work with bank examiners for financial and accounting requests; forecast the Bank's financial performance & provide explanations for deviations from budget; oversee the completion of Bank and Holding Company budgets (fees and expenses). Prepare a departmental year-end forecast to be compared to budget results; assist with managing accounts payable function including accurate and timely payment of billings; review accuracy and sign checks; manage general and administrative expenses and recommend strategies and solutions to maximize corporate profit and reduce company expenses; maintain bank wide Vendor Savings analysis; manage leasing / purchasing and maintenance arrangements for copier and printer fleet; responsible for Bank's financial reporting accuracy including oversight of the reconciliation process and general ledger. EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree with 6-10 years related experience, CPA required. REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting, financial reporting, financial auditing experience, Call Report preparation and filing; banking financial reporting and audit experience; proficiency using advanced Microsoft Excel required (formulas, graphing, pivot tables); strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications; excellent organizational skills required; strong analytical skills; detail oriented; computer skills; advanced Microsoft Excel.
