Senior Lecturer (EPH-PH-06)

Category: Academic | Department: Faculty of Epidemiology & Population Health | Closing Date: 29 Apr 2016 | We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a full time epidemiologist/public health/mental health researcher to join the Centre for Global Mental Health as a Senior Lecturer for 3 years to work on global mental health projects at the LSHTM. This post is a fantastic opportunity for a talented researcher with relevant epidemiological or research skills and a commitment to global mental health research, which will allow the successful candidate to work with some of the world’s leaders in this field. The job provides a range of opportunities in research, teaching and management of the Centre. The post-holder will conduct innovative, methodologically sound research on the epidemiology of mental disorders, mental health services and/or the development of mental health interventions in low- and middle income-countries. This work should extend our internationally competitive programme of global mental health research and thus contribute to studies of the aetiology, prevention and treatment of range of mental disorders.. The successful candidate will be expected build his/her own portfolio of research projects as well as having an opportunity to join other research projects undertaken by the centre, will have an opportunity to supervise PhD and MSc students and teach in our world leading MSc in Global Mental Health and will also support other areas of the work of the Centre for Global Mental Health (http://bit.ly/1DRljq0) as necessary, including help with the management of the Centre. Applicants will need a PhD in a related discipline (for example epidemiology, public health or mental health), experience in writing grants and conducting research (preferably in a low resource setting), a strong publication record, and have excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Familiarity with advanced statistical analysis using Stata would be an advantage but not essential. The appointment is available for 3 years initially. The appointment will be based in London, in the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health and the Department of Population Health. The appointment will be made on the LSHTM’s academic pathway Grade 8, in the range of £52,895 to £60,712 per annum inclusive. The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time. In addition to this there are discretionary "Director's Days".
