Senior Programmer - Data Warehouse Developer - - Malawi Project (EPH-IDE-05)

Category: Professional Support | Department: Faculty of Epidemiology & Population Health | Closing Date: 16 Mar 2016 | We are looking for an experienced Senior Programmer - Data Warehouse Developer (Malawi Project) to work with an established team of data managers and programmers on a unique data resource in Malawi. The Malawi Epidemiology and Intervention Research Unit (formerly known as Karonga Prevention Study, a London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine research programme) has a large, complex database, encompassing millions of records of linked contacts on over 400,000 individuals, dating back to 1979, and including ongoing large population based studies. The Senior Programmer will lead on developing data models to ultimately construct and physically implement a data warehouse, an important feature of which is that it is intended to provide open access to the data to the greatest possible extent. The person will need to have substantial experience of data warehousing development. The post holder will also be responsible for managing a Data Documentalist and a Data Manager. The post will be based in our offices in Lilongwe, Malawi, with frequent visits to our rural Karonga site and to London to work with the LSHTM programmers. The position is available to start as soon as possible and is funded by the Wellcome Trust until 31 August 2017. The appointment will be made on the Professional Support Pathway Grade 6 (scale £37,477 - £42,560 per year depending on qualifications and experience).
